During a discussion round with Laila stieler, we will compare passages from the script and finished scenes from the film GUNDERMANN and attempt to discover, which research details and decisions led to this authentic and well received adaptation of the fascinating and ambivalent life of the Lausitz singer. GUNDERMANN won the German Film Award (Deutscher Filmpreis) for the best script in 2019 and is nominated for the DACHS script award.

Laila Stieler was born in Neustadt/Orla, Thüringen, in 1965. After finishing school in Berlin, she did volunteer work for DDR television in 1987. From 1986 to 1990 she studied dramaturgy at the Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg and has been working as an author, dramaturgist and producer for film and television since. In 2001, she received the "Adolf Grimme Award" in gold for her script work on "Die Polzistin" and was presented with the inernational Literature Film Award in 2005 for "Willenbrock", directed by Andreas Dresen.
Scripts for TV productions such as "Mitten in Deutschland: NSU - Die Opfer - Vergesst mich nicht" (2016; Director: Züli Aladag). "Brief an mein Leben" (2015; Director: Urs Egger) and "Die Lehrerin" (2011: Director: Tim Trageser) followed.
She also wrote the films "Die Friseuse" (2010; Doris Dörrie) and "Liebesleben" (2007), directed by Maria Schrader.
In 2019, she received the LOLA for best script for "Gundermann".
