Daniel (Daniel Auteuil) is in love with his wife Isabelle (Sandrine Kiberlain). She knows him better than anyone else and he feels at home and secure with her. But Daniel also has a very strong imagination and this imagination is unfortunately given a huge boost when his best friend Patrick (Gérard Depardieu) convinces him to a double date. Patrick brings his new attractive girlfriend Emma (Adriana Ugarte) to the rendezvous, who ensures that Daniel can no longer think straight and with his daydreams of wild conquests he is confronted with impossible situations.
