Jowan Safadi, Israeli Palestinian, lives in Haifa and is a well-known musician and true free spirit in the Middle East. With his band Fish Samak he performs songs that contain political and social-critical as well as emotional and philosophical context. Jowan is not afraid to express his thoughts freely, thus also addressing tabooed topics. His texts - detailed and provocative - have caused controversial reactions in many aspects: On the one hand he was accused by the Israeli police of "inciting terrorism", on the other hand his last tour through Jordan ended in prison and the accusation of incitement...
"Namrud" is a film about a courageous individualist who uses his music to stir up the hardened fronts in the region. A film about internal and external borders and the question of whether an individual can initiate changes in his or her society. Will Jowan succeed or has the time come to leave?
