Naples. Today. Two women, their faces and underneath their lives, their feelings, not visible. The film uncovers them slowly and emotionally:
Giovanna, a militant 60-year-old social worker who fights day after day on the front line against the increasing criminality, faces a moral dilemma that threatens to destroy her work and her life like an antigone of the present. She runs a shelter for underprivileged children, to whom she wants to give a chance to start their future lives; an alternative from the people to the mafia domination of the city. One day the young Maria, the wife of an ruthless Camorra criminal on the run, arrives at the centre with her two children and asks Giovanna for protection.
The script, which is based on research and interviews, immerses the viewer in a story that is both strongly linked to reality and deeply rooted in narrative elements.
